When we think about professional football, the same five or six leagues almost always come to mind. But the real map is far bigger, and that is good news for any player who wants to make a living from the game.

A sport without borders

FIFA brings together 211 national associations, spread across six confederations that cover every continent: Europe, South America, North and Central America, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Two hundred and eleven countries where football is organized, with their competitions, their clubs and their calendars.

That is more countries than the United Nations has. Football reaches, quite literally, almost every corner of the planet.

Hundreds of leagues, many ways to live from football

The big leagues are only the tip of the iceberg. Below them there are hundreds of professional and semi-professional divisions where, every season, thousands of players are paid to play.

In more than a hundred countries there is at least one competition where you can make a living from football. And we are not only talking about Europe: North America keeps growing with MLS and USL, Asia and the Middle East invest more every year, and South America, Africa and Oceania have leagues with history and room for players who contribute.

You don't need to reach the global elite to earn a living with the ball. You need to find the right club, at the right time, in any of those countries.

Your opportunity exists

This is the message that really matters: if you progress and improve, there is a place for you. It may be in your city or on the other side of the world, but it exists.

And playing football abroad is not only work. It is travelling, getting to know other cultures, learning languages and living an experience that very few people are lucky enough to try. An experience that changes you as a player and as a person.

Our philosophy

At SoccerLink we want to help you become a professional. To fulfil your football dream and to live an enriching experience within this sport. That is the reason the platform exists.
